JETTING OFF TO TAIWAN (PART TWO) - Nan Tou Half Day Tour, Cing Jing, Tai Pei

DAY THREE (27th Oct 2015)
Left the apartment at 9am and started our day with the first destination heading up to 南投 (Nan tou)! Our host helped us to engage a driver to bring us around 埔里 (Pu Li) town before heading up to our minsu at Cing Jing.
Cost: TWD 6000 (S$260.85 for 7 pax)
Breakfast at one of the stalls located right outside Feng Jia night market.
1) 紙教堂 - Paper Dome
Don't know what this place is for! Only know that the dome is made up of paper that can withstand up to 1500kg. No one came and explain it to us ~.~ Nothing much inside, only the dome. Left the place within 20 minutes.
Entrance fee: TWD 100 includes TWD 100 offset coupon
2) 十八度C巧克力工房 - Feeling 18 Degree Chocolate Factory. Address: 545 南投縣埔里鎮慈恩街20號
Thought the place is literally a chocolate factory but turns out that its just a place to buy ice creams, chocolates and drink free coffee and tea. Visit their website hereThe chocolates are really good though! Flavours are really unique, interesting and tasty!
From the top left: Orange peel, Strawberry truffle, Passion-fruit,
Raspberry ,Chili and Brandy truffle.
Love orange peel the most :P Sucker for orange chocolates, especially with dark choc!
The choosing of such wide varieties of ice-cream gave me such a hard time!
Two sizes: Medium - Choose 2 flavours (Cost: TWD 80)
Large -  Choose 3 flavours (Cost: TWD 120)
Had Sesame and Belgian chocolate chips ice creams!
Really like the Sesame one, its very fragrant and smooth.
3) Matsu Temple
4) Puli Winery
Able to sample some local snacks such as jellies, cakes, sweets, snacks and wine. We bought some wine jellies and tea eggs!
Entrance fee: TWD 0
Our lunch at 七里香瓮仔鸡.
七里香 means "chicken backside"!
This is popular dish in Taiwan, by cooking the chicken in a stove, using longan wood?
The meats are really flavorful, tender and juicy. Must try their 高山高麗菜 (stir-fry cabbage)!
Address: 545, Taiwan, 南投縣埔里鎮桃米路23-11
5) 清境小瑞士花園 - Small Swiss Garden
The weather was quite cooling and scenery was so beautiful. Just a few feet from the slope, you can find stores like 7-11, Starbucks and Mos burger.
The admission ticket is valid for the whole day, if your minsu/ hotel is near the area, get the stamp before you exit so that you can pay a return visit at night.
Entrance fee: TWD 120 (S$5.20)
6) 青青草原 - Green Green Grassland
Sadly, neither us nor the driver has taken note of the opening hours :( They are closed by the time we arrive. Saddd~ The driver then drove us around the area to see the sheeps' resting area and so, we took some photos from there haha! So near yet so far~~~
Thereafter, we headed up to our minsu at Star Villa! :)
Set down our stuffs and roamed around and took pictures of the minsu. Breathing in the clouds~ dayummm!
Read here for my reviews on our accommodations in Taiwan.
Taking pictures of his best friend, Xiao Bob.
Can you spot the web?!
Around 7pm, we walked down to a nearby restaurant for our dinner! About 5-7 minutes walk from our minsu, it was pretty dark and cooooooling outside~ We settled at this Chinese cuisine restaurant.
At about 9.30 pm, we went up for the Star observation session but no one was there, only me and Leon haha! It was so COOOLD at 14°C! It was my first time experiencing this kind of weather.
Was so excited to try out Canon G7X star mode, but after taking this shot then we know why no one was up there. The moon was too bright and clouds were overcasting the stars!
But it was fun though! Me and the boy running around finding for the best spots to take pictures haha!
Failed star portrait
The best shot.
DAY FOUR
Overslept ~.~ Quickly washed and packed up as our shuttle bus was leaving 9am, luckily we still have some time for their free breakfast :P
Cutie pup and Leon.
Simple hearty breakfast!
A 2 hours journey down to Taichung Railway station and from here, we separated from the family as they are spending another day in Taichung while Leon and I left for Taipei! Collected our luggage from the storage and paid the remaining amount.
Bought tickets to New Wurih TRA and then transfer to Taichung HSR.
Love this guy! ♥
Follow the sign to Taichung HSR!
Went to collect the tickets that I had purchased beforehand.
Cost: TWD 610 per pax (S$26.90) - After 20% early bird discount.
We had another hour before our train arrives, so we decided to settle our lunch at a Japanese restaurant. Thought of buying railway bento - 铁路便当 and eat on-board the train but... we're too hungry to wait for another hour :P Shall experience it next time~
After an hour ride, we reached Taipei HSR! Then, we followed the sign towards Ban Nan Line (Blue) - Taipei main station MRT, about 7 minutes walk?
Bought our "tickets" to XMD station!
The token reminds me of Bangkok :(
The railway in TW is really easy to navigate and understand, just like Sg's train system.
I downloaded this the app called TaipeiMetro, where it can show you the ticket fare and time, also it is linked to Google map to check the location of any station.

After checking into our BNB, we quickly washed our 4 days worth of clothes and headed out to our first place in Taipei!

1) ONEPIECE Mugiwara StoreAddress: 台北市萬華區武昌街2段118-2號
Love this place so much! One Piece fans should definitely visit this place!!
Bought quite a few things there :P
Mugiwara Leon
西門町 - XI MEN DING
2) 維多利亞茶餐廳 - Victoria Restaurant. Address:台北市萬華區成都路27巷19號
This restaurant is along a small alley and inside has a very HongKong-y feel to it. Famous for their Bolo buns and claypot rice (that's why we only tried those two haha)! They do have a wide varieties of food and their claypot rice is pretty delicious.
菠蘿油 - Bolo bun
TWD 60 (S$2.60)
腊味煲仔饭 - Chinese sausage claypot rice
Cost: TWD 280 (S$12.15)
3) 师大夜市 - Shi Da Night market
Bought the Easy card (Green machine) as it makes travelling around easier and it cost TWD 100, you can also get the deposit back after you return it!
From XMD station (Green line) take the train heading towards Taipower Building station (~ 7 minutes) and take Exit 3.
Somehow its a bad idea to go Shi Da night market during the weekday as there's literally nothing much, only lots of 卤味 stalls. This night market does not have much food choices as other night markets that we went to, more on youngsters' clothing, accessories, etc.
4) Found this hidden gem; Ar - Nor Crêpe! Address: 台北市大安區師大路39巷20號
They do offer sweet and savoury crêpes, so Leon and I went for the sweet crêpes :P We bought peppermint choc flavoured one and its so damn good! Luckily both of us shared one as the portion is very big.
After roaming around for about an hour, we decided to head back to XMD and explore more. There are quite a few street vendor carts, and we witnessed a scene that I thought only shows would happened. Three street vendors were pushing and running with their carts, they kept turning their heads as they run so I followed their gaze, and realized that a police is on a motorcycle chasing after them. I was like WTHHH? Its real!!!
Oh well~
5) Mini Melts. Address: 西門町漢中街53號
Quite expensive for a small cup of ice~ literally bought it just to snap a picture of it. Doesn't tastes that wonderful though. Bought the wrong flavour :(
Cost: TWD 120 (S$5.20)
Rainbow Ice.
6) 天天利 - Tian Tian Li.
Saw this shop that have a lot of customers queuing up so; not letting the Singaporean spirit down, we decided to try their Oyster omelette :P (蚵仔煎 - O Ah Jian). Its our first time trying Taiwanese oyster omelette and I would say that its kind of disappointment, as its not what I thought it would be. Prefer Singapore's kind of omelette; chewy and lil crispy! Taiwanese oyster omelette is gooey (too much cornstarch?), contains partially translucent and sticky stuffs, then topped it up with sweet and sour sauce. Not that it doesn't taste nice but just that we're not used to it LOL. Craving for SG's omelette after trying theirs hahaa!
7) 三兄妹 - San Xiong Mei.
Located just opposite 天天利! Ordered their Mango shaved ice with Ice cream, and its pretty impressive. The portion was quite big and affordable too. Definitely gonna come back here and try the others!
Cost: TWD 120 (S$5.20)
Guess which one caught my eyes!
AHHHHH WOOOOOOOO~
Headed back to our apartment at around 10plus. That's all for our fourth day!
